School-Level Parent and Family Engagement Policy


As a recipient of Title I funds, ALL Title I schools will consult with parents of children enrolled in the school to establish expectations and to provide activities for effective parent and family involvement.


Activities involving parents and families will include, but are not limited to, the following:


  1. The parent/families of students at a Title I school will be informed of their school’s participation under Title I, and will be given a written explanation of Title I, its requirements, and their right to be involved in Title I.  This will be done during the first semester of the school year.

  1. Parent and family workshops will be offered throughout the school year, and home visits will be made by the staff, as needed.

  1. Parents will be involved in the planning, review, and improvement of programs under Title I through the meetings of the School Improvement Council and the PTSO/PTA.  Parents will be invited to make suggestions concerning Title I programing.  They will be asked to complete recommendation forms online or by returning the form to the school.

  1. Suggestions received from the suggestion form and any meetings will be addressed by the administrative team, which includes the principal, the assistant principal, the instructional facilitator, and the guidance counselor.

  1. An annual meeting will convene in which all parents will be invited and encouraged to attend.  The purpose of this meeting will be:

  1. Parents will be informed of their right to consult in the design and implementation of the Title I Schoolwide Program.
  2. Parents will be informed of the Title I Program and the components of the plan.
  3. Parents will receive a description and explanation of the curriculum, the forms of assessment used to measure student progress, and the promotion/retention policy used in Anderson School District five.
  4. Parents will be given the opportunity to ask questions and request further activities and afforded the opportunity to submit those requests in writing to the local education agency.
  5. Parents will review the current Title I Schoolwide Plan and be given the opportunity to offer suggestions for the following year.

  1. Parents  will be given the opportunity in the School Improvement Council meetings, PTSO/PTA Board meetings, and Schoolwide Title I meetings to give feedback to this plan and make suggestions.

  1. The school will hold at least one parent-teacher conference with each parent during the year.  Other meetings will be scheduled as needed and may possibly include providing transportation, childcare or home visits.

  1. Parent participation will be solicited in the Parenting Resource center, parent conferences and parenting workshops, through written, electronic, and  phone communications by classroom teachers.

  1. Suggestions will be provided through home activities to parents to help them promote the education of their child.

  1. A school-parent compact will be developed with parental input to outline how the parents, the entire staff, and the students will work together as a team to share the responsibility for improved student achievement.  This will be used to help build a partnership with the students to achieve the state’s high standards.  The school-parent compact will be accessible to parents as a part of the student registration process for each child prior to the start of the new school year.

Como beneficiario de los fondos del Título I, TODAS las escuelas del Título I consultarán con los padres de los niños matriculados en la escuela para establecer expectativas y proporcionar actividades para la participación efectiva de los padres y la familia.

Las actividades que involucran a los padres y las familias incluirán, entre otras, las siguientes:
  1. Los padres/familias de los estudiantes en una escuela de Título I serán informados de la participación de su escuela bajo el Título I y se les dará una explicación por escrito del Título I, sus requisitos y su derecho a participar en el Título I. Esto se hará durante el primer semestre del año escolar.
  2. Se ofrecerán talleres para padres y familias durante todo el año escolar, y el personal realizará visitas al hogar, según sea necesario.
  3. Los padres participarán en la planificación, revisión y mejora de los programas bajo el Título I a través de las reuniones del Consejo de Mejoramiento Escolar y la PTO /PTA. Se invitará a los padres a hacer sugerencias sobre la programación del Título I. Se les pedirá que completen formularios de recomendación en línea o que devuelvan el formulario a la escuela.
  4. Las sugerencias recibidas del formulario de sugerencias y cualquier reunión serán abordadas por el equipo administrativo, que incluye al director, el subdirector, el facilitador de instrucción y el consejero de orientación.
  5. Se convocará una reunión anual en la que todos los padres serán invitados y animados a asistir. El objeto de esta reunión será:
    1. Se informará a los padres sobre su derecho a consultar sobre el diseño y la implementación del Programa de Título I para toda la escuela.
    2. Los padres serán informados del Programa Título I y los componentes del plan.
    3. Los padres recibirán una descripción y explicación del plan de estudios, las formas de evaluación utilizadas para medir el progreso del estudiante y la política de promoción/retención utilizada en el distrito escolar cinco de Anderson.
    4. Los padres tendrán la oportunidad de hacer preguntas y solicitar más actividades y la oportunidad de presentar esas solicitudes por escrito a la agencia de educación local.
    5. Los padres revisarán el Plan Escolar Título I actual y tendrán la oportunidad de ofrecer sugerencias para el año siguiente.
  6. Los padres tendrán la oportunidad en las reuniones del Consejo de Mejoramiento Escolar, las reuniones de la Junta de PTO /PTA y las reuniones de Título I de toda la escuela para dar su opinión sobre este plan y hacer sugerencias.
  7. La escuela llevará a cabo al menos una conferencia de padres y maestros con cada padre durante el año. Se programarán otras reuniones según sea necesario y es posible que incluyan proporcionar transporte, cuidado de niños o visitas domiciliarias.
  8. Se solicitará la participación de los padres en el centro de recursos para padres, conferencias para padres y talleres para padres, a través de comunicaciones escritas, electrónicas y telefónicas por parte de los maestros de clase.
  9. Se proporcionarán sugerencias a través de actividades en el hogar a los padres para ayudarlos a promover la educación de sus hijos.
  10. Se desarrollará un pacto entre la escuela y los padres con la participación de los padres para describir cómo los padres, todo el personal y los estudiantes trabajarán juntos como un equipo para compartir la responsabilidad de mejorar el rendimiento de los estudiantes. Esto se utilizará para ayudar a construir una asociación con los estudiantes para lograr los altos estándares del estado. El pacto entre la escuela y los padres estará disponible para los padres como parte del proceso de registro de estudiantes para cada niño antes del comienzo del nuevo año escolar.
